"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
While the sentence seems that it could have been constructed less ambiguously, numerous court rulings and historical evidence affirm that the intent of the founding fathers was to acknowledge the God-given "...right of the people to keep and bear Arms" that "shall not be infringed."
